ABOUT US
-
The Nashville Police + Public Safety Alliance’s mission is to improve public safety in partnership with the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD).
Our work as community leaders will focus on preventing and reducing crime, improving community engagement, introducing new innovative ideas and best practices, and providing support to the MNPD.
-
We want to keep Nashville safe for our families, friends, and fun. As an energetic metropolitan area that has enjoyed unprecedented growth in recent years, Nashville must be safe to remain a vibrant, prosperous, and enjoyable community to live, work, and play in.
In response to the city’s rapid growth, several high-profile violent crimes, and MNPD’s resource and staffing challenges, business and community leaders banded together to explore ways to support and elevate public safety in Nashville/Davidson County.
-
Over six months, we spoke with a diverse group of Nashville leaders about public safety, its importance to the community, and whether we would want to work together on its continuous improvement. We found great interest and value in elevating and improving public safety and that an independent, nonprofit alliance would be the best facilitator to bring the Nashville community and police together in this effort.
The founding committee established the Nashville Police + Public Safety Alliance and drafted a strategic plan to guide its work based on the recommendations and feedback garnered from the listening sessions.
-
The Nashville Alliance is deeply committed to transparency, innovation, and collaboration. Improving public safety requires collaboration between our community and law enforcement agencies. While remaining an autonomous nonprofit organization, we will create, identify, and facilitate community partnerships and projects with the MNPD that enhance public safety.

The Nashville Alliance is an independent 501(c)(3) organization led by a board of directors. We are not a political or advocacy organization, and we will not replace Metro funding. We will not function as an oversight or policing organization, and we will not procure weapons of any kind.
